Chapter 1: From Glasses to Contacts
As I continue to reflect on my metamorphosis of wearing glasses as a young lad to
wearing contacts as an adult, this book will focus on three numbers that not only could my
bare eyes see, but my mind think, my heart pump, and my soul engulf, and that number is
One Zero Nine. This number came to fruition when I was nineteen years old, during the
year 1995, through a tragedy. It was first visualized in 1997, when I noticed a tattoo
on one of my college friends that had the number 109 on the side of his calf. The number
continues to be embedded in me at my current age of thirty years old, to the point where
I wake up at specifically 1:09 in the morning; where I would be driving to a location
and happen to look at the address of a home and the house would have the number 109 on
it; where I would be playing John Madden football, and the clock happened to stop on one
minute and nine seconds.
The day I met with AuthorHouse Publishing in Newark, New Jersey,
I was really hungry for Benny's pizza in Hoboken, New Jersey. So, I decided to grab a
couple slices to bring back to Pennsylvania. As I was getting into my truck and
pulling out onto the street, a taxi cab pulled out in front of me with the number
109 on the back of the cab. Through visual signs, I run into the number One Zero Nine
frequently. This is real and it freaks me out every now and then. As you read this book,
you will digest the meaning of One Zero Nine and what those three numbers mean to me.
One Zero Nine brings life-altering incidents to myself into one 360-degree circle,
all connected somehow. It begins with a seventeen-year-old mistake from me that
started this chain reaction.
